Carlos Acevedo
Carlos is a seasoned consultant, devoted to having companies realize tangible results by intervening in where people stand and how work gets done. In the process, he has deeply touched the lives of many people in expanding what is possible for them.
For the past few years, he has focused on systemic change processes. These are large scale shifts that are made possible not by having people merely perform more or different actions, but by having people think differently and therefore generate the conversations which result in effective actions. His recent certification in the Holacracy system has provided a breakthrough process for highly functional group conversation, coordination and alignment
Previous experiences include:
- A key client in Engineering Services, working with the owner to shape corporate culture, develop key strategies and produce outstanding results.
- An intervention at a major Health Care facility to reach new levels of customer service and satisfaction, including implemented strategies for superior service.
- A major project in Chile, working with the senior directors and line managers, focused on aspects of the (local) Corporate Culture, Strategy alignment, and operating divisions performance enhancement.
- A leadership development process for mid-level managers at a Global Financial institution. The approach included working with people at deeper levels to accelerate their development and professional competence. This approach goes beyond the traditional Skills/Competency development and is grounded in Awareness while engaging people through communication and action. How people see themselves, others and their circumstances in large part determines what is possible.
- A program at a major pharmaceutical company with a group of 20 “high potentials” who went through an intensive 6 month development process. The program concentrated on Leadership communication; ways of being; impact to the overall organization; skills to move work groups forward and self-management. The results were impressive, with several members immediately taking on positions of greater responsibility and authority.
- A culture change and organizational redesign intervention with the Panama Canal Commission. Facilitated the creation of a learning organization context and utilized a process improvement methodology to have change occur throughout various divisions. Extensively used one-on-one coaching to impact people's behavior and supported them in internalizing new skills and ways of interacting.
As Director of Corporate Quality for an electronic component supplier he designed and implemented a Total Quality program involving extensive integration of the quality function across three countries. His fourteen years with Digital Equipment Corp. included creation and management of quality improvement teams as well as extensive group facilitation. Carlos used his skills to successfully manage a major product introduction across seven manufacturing sites in four countries.
Carlos' uniqueness comes in part from his developmental path. As an engineer from MIT (BSME), he learned and applied highly technical skills. Once he began his transformational development (Est, Insight, Lifespring, Metaphysics…) his whole life took a turn towards the powerful yet unseen world within. His fifteen years as a manager gave him a direct dose of the "reality" many managers live. His eighteen years as an organizational consultant have brought him into such diverse fields as Pharmaceutical Manufacturing, Banking, Electronics, Insurance, Hospitals, Professional Services and Government. Carlos is fluent in Spanish and English and lives in Puerto Rico with his wife Deborah and their three children.
Carlos is committed to people living in dignity and harmony while bringing their best selves forward
